総合地球環境学研究所の FS プロジェクト「凍結を利⽤した伝統的な⾷糧の保存・貯蔵⽂化―環境変動下でのフードライフヒストリーの変容と継承―」の⼀環として、昨年に引き続き "Food Life History of the North" workshop を開催します。北⽅圏ベリンジア域に⾒られる凍結貯蔵(地下貯蔵庫や⼀時的な窪地利⽤を含む)は、先住⺠・少数⺠族など現地住⺠の⾷の主権や安全保障,伝統,⽂化,健康に深く関連しますが、⾃然・社会環境の変化により変容が余儀なくされています。このプロジェクトは、アラスカ・シベリア各地の凍結貯蔵の履歴・伝統智および現況を⾃然科学・⼈⽂社会の両⾯から調査・可視化するとともに、現地コミュニティでの横⽅向(コミュニティ間)と縦⽅向(世代間)のコミュニケーションを媒介・触媒することで、持続可能な凍結貯蔵とその継承のあり⽅を考える場と⽅法を現地コミュニティとともに考えていきます。
ワークショップは、パネルディスカッション(1日目),テーマごとのセッション(1−2日目),全体討論(2日目)からなり、昨年よりも相互の情報交換や議論に時間を取っています。パネルディスカッションでは,北方圏で行う調査で直面する違いや困難あるいは現地コミュニティとの関係のとり方などについて、北方圏をフィールドとするシベリア・アラスカ・日本の(自然・人文・社会)研究者から経験・考えを共有してもらったあとで、会場参加者を含め全体で討論します。今年度シベリア・アラスカで行われた現地調査の速報も各セッションで報告されます。全体討論では、1日半の発表を踏まえ、凍結貯蔵の現状や今後のあり方、また凍結貯蔵研究の必要性や困難さ、今後の方向性などを考えていきたい。開始時間が早いですが、アラスカからの発表・参加者とのバランスのためご容赦ください。
