The SRIREP Project is dedicated to the research of mercury pollution in the environment and ecosystems, as a result of small-scale artisanal gold mining (AGSM). One of the reasons behind the issue of environmental pollution is a lack of awareness among the general public. Heightening that awareness is of the utmost importance, but it is a problem that often goes unnoticed in our daily lives. As such, we believe that granting more opportunities to think about environmental issues from a young age is crucial.

This illustrated book is intended to provide a chance to raise awareness of environmental issues among young children and elementary school students. Through it, we aim to address the problem of waste being disposed of in the environment, which is a commonplace issue in developing countries like Indonesia. By featuring animals and insects well known in their community, we wish to make exploring environmental issues more accessible to children and easier to understand.

In doing so, it is hoped that after reading this book, children will begin to become more mindful of the environment around them.
