今回の国際シンポジウムでは、九州大学持続可能な社会のための決断科学センター(IDS3)が地域の課題と向かい合いながら、さまざまなステークホルダーとの共創で取り組んでいるFuture Earthプロジェクトの内容や成果を国際的に発信します。
今回の国際シンポジウムは9月24日と28日の2日間にわたって行われます。
24日には、九州大学IDS3と同じくフューチャーアース推進事業に採択され、貧困問題の解決に超学際研究を通じて取り組んでいる「貧困条件下の自然資源管理のための社会的弱者との協働によるトランスディシプリナリー研究(TD-VULSプロジェクト)」(代表者:佐藤哲,愛媛大学社会共創学部・教授)、Future Earth アジア地域センターに選出された総合地球環境学研究所のメンバーもお招きしそれぞれの成果を発表します。地域スケールの課題解決にフォーカスし地域との対話のなかで研究を進めてきた複数のFuture Earthプロジェクトからの報告を基に、研究が地域や社会に受け入れられるよういかにステークホルダーとの協働プロセスを発展させるのか、また地域レベルの優先課題解決の取り組みの積み重ねがグローバルな優先課題の解決のためにどのように貢献できるのかなどを議論します。
28日のセッションは、Future Earth理事であるAmy Luers博士らFuture Earthを推進する有力なゲストを迎え、日本のFuture Earth事業の成果や日本発のFuture Earthコンセプトについて議論・発信します。 このセッションの後、 この日のゲストは場所を移して、第4回世界社会科学フォーラムにて14:00-16:00に開催されるセッション"Key roles of social sciences in Future Earth, a global research initiative to support sustainable development goals (SDGs)"に参加します。
