About Ecohealth
The Ecohealth approach to research and practice places human health in the context of the wider ecosystem. It combines ecological system thinking with an understanding of the social and environmental determinants of health and places strong emphasis on the engagement of research with addressing real-world issues. In this project, we explore the multiple meanings of health as a positive force, beyond simply the absence of disease, by undertaking fieldwork on lifestyles, livelihoods, food, and environment in contemporary Asia and through historical investigations of health concepts and practices in East Asia. We also aim to provide a novel humanities perspective on Ecohealth.
