Many of the existing tropical rain forests are still continuing their degradation and/or reduction under insufficient management. This project focuses on non-monetary benefits, which have been overlooked until now, from tropical rain forests. We aim to devise a method for using the accumulated scientific knowledge of the protected tropical rain forest areas which maintain high biodiversity in cooperation with researchers from developed countries. Also, we would like to create a framework for multilateral uses of the non-monetary benefits held in the protected areas and for their sustainable conservation mainly in local communities’ and stakeholders’ charge.
