With the start of the 4th Mid-Term Plan, RIHN has renewed its logo. The logo mark, which was adopted through a public competition, was created by Kazuho Harada, a designer living in Kanagawa Prefecture. The symbol mark is designed an image of a foundation representing "a research base that cannot be achieved by the university alone," "interdisciplinary research by integrating the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences" and "transdisciplinary research in cooperation and collaboration with society" of various kinds, overlaying the image of the earth on the diverse human interactions.
The earth in the lower half of the symbol mark is used as a motif to express the preliminary stage to be built up, with a strong message that global environmental issues will be solved from our institute and a desirable future image will emerge.
