Dr. T. Chuluun worked at the Mongolian Academy of Sciences (1977-1991), Colorado State University (1991-2002), and has been working at the National University of Mongolia since 2002. He is a Chair of the Future Earth Mongolian Committee since 2018 and served as a Member of the International Council for Science (ICSU) Regional Committee for Asia and the Pacific (2012-2018). Dr.Chuluun’s research activities address sustainability, adaptation and green development of social-ecological systems at local, national, regional and global scales.

Dr. Chuluun studied pastoral social-ecological system in Mongolia extensively, proposed the inclusion of carbon dioxide emission per capita in the Human Development Index, publishing his research in Nature. Dr. Chuluun is one of authors of the “Review of the Sustainable Development Goals: The Science Perspective” by the ICSU and ISSC (2015).

Dr. Chuluun also contributed for science based policy development in Mongolia. He is an initiator and leader of the Green Development Policy, adopted by the Parliament of Mongolia in 2014. He served as a Science Advisor to the Minister of Environment and Green Development (2013-2014), Director General of the Department for Green Development Planning and Policy of the Ministry of Environment and Green Development (2012-2013).
