An interview with Professor Nakatsuka was published on the BBC Future Now website as part of a series called Japan: Untold Stories.

The article describes how Professor Nakatsuka used isotope ratios contained in trees and wooden objects to estimate the annual precipitation patterns in Japan going back some 2600 years, creating a unique time series that can be used how Japanese society historically responded to climate variatiability.
