Research Topic:Environmental Policy on the Field of Household Waste Management in Japan: A Good Experience for Sustainable Development in Kazakhstan
Dr. AKHAPOV, Yerlan is an Associate Professor of Japanese Studies division in the Department of Far East of Oriental Studies faculty at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (Central Asia, Kazakhstan). His research interests include Japanese studies and environmental studies, with a particular focus on Japan's circular and environmentally conscious society and the environmental awareness of citizens in sustainable cities. He is also particularly interested in interdisciplinary approaches to promoting sustainable development in Kazakhstan today. His current research interests include environmental policies in the areas of household waste management (collection, separation and recycling) in Japan.
During his stay, he will discuss sustainable development in Kazakhstan with Professor Misuzu Asari of the Education Division of the Fundamental Research Department at RIHN and other division members, and will also visit general household waste sites, interview experts and give lectures, thereby actively interacting with people involved in the detailed circumstances of the general household waste problem.
