BROWN, Hannah is a Professor of Anthropology at Durham University (UK). She originally trained in social anthropology, with specialism in medical anthropology. Much of her work is interdisciplinary, involving collaborations with ecologists, epidemiologists and veterinarians. Her current research focuses on the implications of human-animal relations for livelihoods, and health and wellbeing in Africa, including the way these relationships are governed and how people respond to interventions to manage human-animal relations.
During her stay, she will work on bushmeat values and the relationships between ecology, disease, and hunting in sub-Saharan Africa with Associate Professor Hongo of the RIHN Project ‘FASHLOKS’ and project members. She will actively interact with people related to a range of other projects at the Institute and more widely through one-to-one meetings, interviews and lectures.
