Dr. Peter Sutoris is a researcher who specialises in imagination of alternative environmental futures. He has extensive experience of studying grassroots resistance to environmental decay, environmental social movements, and environmental and sustainability education. He has authored the books Educating for the Anthropocene (MIT Press) and Visions of Development (Oxford University Press).

At RIHN, Dr. Sutoris will collaborate with Professor Yoshinori Nakagawa’s future design project. Specifically, he will work on the role of cultural conceptions of time in the process of future design as well as the educational potential of future design workshops. He hopes to help build intellectual bridges between the work of Professor Nakagawa’s team and relevant conversations in the field of environmental and sustainability education as well as environmental anthropology.
