Research Topic:Assessing the potential of optimized crop residue management strategies for mitigating greenhouse gases
and enhancing soil carbon sequestration in Northwest India
Dr. Dong-Gill Kim, an environmental scientist specializing in climate change adaptation and greenhouse gas mitigation in natural and agricultural lands, has joined RIHN as a Visiting Research Fellow. With extensive experience managing climate change projects across Africa, Europe, Latin America, and in partnership with UN agencies like FAO and UNEP, Dr. Kim brings a global perspective. His leadership roles on the Scientific Steering Committees of the Global Land Programme and UNEP's Global Partnership on Nutrient Management underscore his expertise.
At RIHN, Dr. Kim will collaborate with Professor Prabir K. Patra’s Aakash project to investigate optimized crop residue management strategies for mitigating greenhouse gases and improving soil carbon sequestration in Northwest India. Additionally, he aims to establish an international collaboration with RIHN researchers to address food security and greenhouse gas emissions challenges faced by African smallholder farmers.
