                            ecological interactions to contribute to the local governance and sustainability

Dr. José Luis Rivera is involved in mitigating artisanal and small scale gold mining (ASGM) impact in Ecuador through transdisciplinary collaboration and community engagement. During his stay at RIHN, he collaborates with Professor Masayuki Sakakibara and other members of the SRIREP Project to discuss ways of engaging the local community to improve their environmental tract and find alternatives to gold mining as a major income source. Moreover, he is also interested in expanding its collaboration network to better understand contaminant movement and human health impacts of ASGM pollution.
