| Abstract | The Land Use Innovation Program is pleased to host a seminar by Dr. Rares Halbac-Cotoara-Zamfir, Associate Professor at Politehnica University Timișoara, Romania, and Director of the Support Center for Climate Actions (SCCA), together with Cristina Halbac-Cotoara-Zamfir, psychologist and research collaborator actively involved in several interdisciplinary projects. Dr. Halbac-Cotoara-Zamfir conducts transdisciplinary research at the intersection of land management, climate change adaptation and mitigation, civil engineering, nature-based solutions, and the integration of private land into climate adaptation strategies. Cristina Halbac-Cotoara-Zamfir contributes to these initiatives through her expertise in social psychology, stakeholder engagement, and community resilience, supporting the integration of social and behavioral perspectives into environmental and climate-related projects. Together, they have played key roles in major European research and innovation initiatives, including the EU Horizon Europe project LAND4CLIMATE. This seminar will introduce their joint research and recent European experiences, while exploring points of convergence with Japan’s approaches to multifunctional landscapes, flood and water management, and climate resilience, and discussing opportunities for future international collaboration and applied research partnerships. |
