Title: “How can Academism Contribute to Global Environmental Issues? Agenda Setting as Commitment ”
Speaker: Yonemoto Shohei (Professor, Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology, The University of Tokyo)
Abstract:
One of the features of global environmental issues is changing stance of earth sciences, which were once considered as totally distant from politics and diplomacy and then merged with international politics, along with the basic framework of diplomatic negotiations and policy-making. This feature well contributes to settlement of issues by establishment of agenda-setting and political neutralism of research programs. Related with this, concrete examples from international relations will be raised accordingly.
