Financial Support
Admission Fee/Tuition Exemption
A system of admission/tuition fee waiver is available to provide financial assistance to students who are unable to pay the admission fee/tuition due to financial difficulties. Applications for tuition fee waiver are accepted twice a year, by semester. Those who are approved for tuition fee waiver are exempted from the full or half amount of tuition fee for the semester.
Research Assistant(RA)
Under the direction and supervision of a faculty member, a research assistant earns wages while assisting the faculty member in performing a variety of tasks necessary for research activities.

Research Activity Support
Global Environmental Studies Program lend a laptop computer to enrolled students, and moreover, students are eligible for subsidies for expenses necessary in their research activities including purchases of books and materials and travel expenses.
SOKENDAI Student Dispatch Program
The SOKENDAI Student Dispatch Program encourages all SOKENDAI students to seek a short term research opportunity abroad and/or a long-term collaborative research project in and outside Japan that may lead to their career in the future.
SOKENDAI Special Researcher Program
The SOKENDAI Special Researcher Program is designed to develop future leaders by hiring aspiring and outstanding doctoral students and providing financial support.
JSPS Doctoral Course Research Fellowships
The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science(“JSPS”) solicits JSPS DC Research Fellows and provides support to students enrolled in doctoral course in Japan with outstanding research skills who wish to pursue research at universities and other research institutions. JSPS offers funding for research conducted by DC Research Fellows through the Grant-in-Aid for JSPS Fellows in addition to monthly stipends.

Counseling Faculty
Global Environmental Studies Program offers consultations services by a designated faculty staff besides chief/sub supervisors to support students who have any concerns in research and study, dissertation writing, financial difficulties, future careers, health issues, housing, etc.
Mental Health Counseling
Mental health counseling with a professional counselor can be scheduled once a month on campus.
