Errata for V0902 last updated on 20 May 2009 1. General information We released APHRODITE daily gridded precipitation data V0902 on May 2009. Continuous effort to improve the dataset have been made, however, there still remain some problems. Errata, revise and update information is reported on this document. We will inform you of new release and bug report if you register your email address on our website. (Your address is collected and utilized just for the purpose of sending information to you. Your private information is handled with care.) 2. Revise and updates The product V0902 is published on 15 May 2009. There's nothing to report yet. 3. Errata for V0902 (common) The version V0902 contains more raingauge data including Global Telecommunication System (GTS) with longer time period than the previous version V0804. Until the release of V0804, we collected the data individually in cooperate with some countries. We ended up using the different data for the same station as a consequence of using many source including GTS product. Duplicated rain gauge data have not been discarded yet. Plausible errors come from raingauge data; unit-of-measurement errors, missing-data-flag has extraordinary large value or 0mm... Though quality control program is carefully carried out to exclude most of those errors, there might remain some errors. Now we are developing sophisticated QC schemes as countermeasures. Particular problems of each product (MA/ME/RU) is reported below. 3.1 Errata for APHRO_MA Precipitation around the Himalayas shows extraordinary large value in January 1961 and 1962. We have overlooked the large value coming from original raingauge data. The erroneous raingauge data is identified. Furthermore, the grids affected by the erroneous data will be identified and substituted with missing data temporally in the near future. 3.2 Errata for APHRO_ME Nothing noteworthy to report except for common errata. 3.3 Errata for APHRO_RU Less GTS data is used for the period of 1971-1972 than the rest of the analysis. A remarkable number of missing and zero value is found in the region of the former Soviet Union. 4.
