- Number of expected participants is 200

- Temporary book title: Hydrological changes and managements from headwater
to the ocean (vol. 1)
- Expected number of pages: 600 pages
- Instructions to authors: Organizing committee is inviting the
authors to contribute a short paper to the Proceedings of HydroChange
2008. This proceedings will consist of peer-reviewed papers for each oral
and poster presentation, and will be distributed to the participants in
both CD and book format. The length of the paper must be 5 or 6 pages
based on the template from the publisher (see below). The manuscripts
should be written in English. If you are not a native English speaker,
we recommend you to use English text editing services before submitting
your paper. If you wish to submit, please send your first draft through
email to the convener at your applied session no later than Mar 1,
2008 (approximately 2 months from today). By the end of April 2008,
we will inform you whether or not your paper is accepted or what type
of changes is needed. The final version of your paper is due to us by
June 1, 2008. The CD and the book will be produced prior to the
symposium and will be made available in Kyoto during the symposium. The
book will be published by Taylor & Francis, however the number of pages
is limited so from the accepted papers, we will select based on technical
merit, articles which will be included in the book. Nevertheless, all
accepted papers will definitely be included in the CD.
- At the timing of submitting your revised manuscript, please do not forget
to sign and return a Consent to Publication
Form to the HydroChange2008 secretariat (FAX: +81-(0)75-707-2506,
or E-mail: hc2008 "at" chikyu.ac.jp, or ADDRESS: 457-4, Motoyama,
Kamigamo, Kita-ku, Kyoto, 603-8047, Japan, Research Institute for Humanity
and Nature, HydroChange2008 secretariat)
- In order to prevent non-payment and non-attendance to the symposium,
we would highly appreciate if you could finish your payment upon submission
of the final version of your paper. Payments made before June 1, 2008
will also lessen your expenditure by 5,000 JPN yen. We hope for your kind
understanding of this matter.

- This template suits to the printout on A4 size paper, because accepted
papers will be printed on A4 paper at HydroChange2008 office in Japan,
and sent to the publisher. So only the template for the printout on A4
size paper is available here. If you'd like to use the other template
(ex., LaTEX, MS-Word for the printout on letter size paper), please consult
Yu Umezawa (yu "at" chikyu.ac.jp). The
template was a little modified on January 16th. Please place the
e-mail address of corresponding author in the footnote of the first page.
And it's not necessary to keep the length of the title within 75 characters
as shown in the previous instruction. But very long title is not preferable.

- In addition to a valid passport, a visa is required for some nationals
to enter Japan. Please contact the Embassy or Consular Office of Japan
in your country for the requirements for visa application. A formal letter
certifying your attendance to HydroChange2008 (HC2008) will be sent by
the HC2008 Secretariat upon request. Please download the Visa information
form, fill in the required information and send it back to the HC2008
Secretariat by email or fax. The issuance of a formal letter is strictly
controlled to deal with possible false applications from those who want
to enter and stay in Japan for other purposes. Prior to the issuance,
the Secretariat will require payment of registration fee and your latest
Curriculum Vitae. It would be helpful also if you can inform the Secretariat
of your official institutional/organizational e-mail, and hopefully your
official institutional web site where your name is shown. Please apply
as early as possible, at least by the end of June 2008.

for grant application is the same as the deadline for early bird registration:
June 1, 2008. The decision will be made by HC2008 organizing committee,
and successful applicants will be notified by e-mail on or before June
30, 2008. The committee may contact the supervisor to confirm whether
the applicant actually belongs to the institution.
