[Research Meeting]
Towards the Co-design/ Co-production, and Trans-disciplinarity, What Kind of Role Does Visual Data of Folklore Play?

Abstract:

Towards the establishment of the co-design and co-production process by society and science, what kind of role does the method of visualization play? As for one important key elements, this research meeting focuses on the visual date of folklore, which is the data collected by scientist in order to document, analyze, and research particular society and its history. For more than thirty years, the National Museum of Japanese History (NMJH) has been undergone field research of folklore in various places in Japanese Archipelago and accumulated vast amount of such data. The enduring attempt to pass those data to next generation and to share them with stake holders has been also continuously undergoing.

In this meeting, Junko Uchida, Associate Professor of NMJH and the lead of the research project “The Production, Preservation, and Sharing of Films as Resources for Historical and Ethnological Studies and Development of NMJH-based Platform,” one of the fundamental researches of the NMJH, explains the process of platform building based on the collected data.

As a commentator, Yasuhisa Kondo, Associate Professor of RIHN and the lead of research project ”Information Asymmetry Reduction in Open Team Science for Socio-environmental Cases,” one of the core projects of RIHN, will shed light concerning the use of data from the stand point of Open Science.
