Prof. Tsugihiro WATANABE received the International Award of PAWEES

On 28th November 2012, Prof. Tsugihiro Watanabe, the leader of the RIHN Project C-09-Init titled “Designing Local Framework for Integrated Water Resources Management” received the International Award from International Society of Paddy and Water Environment Engineering (PAWEES). The subject for the Award is “Studies on Irrigation Management of Paddy Fields and Its Implication for Regional Environment”.

International Award of PAWEES is presented to the person who has contributed greatly to the development of paddy fields and water and environmental engineering.

Prof. Tsugihiro Watanabe has studied environmental significance of agricultural water management, mainly of paddy irrigation, in hydrological regime and the relationship between water management and regional environment. He has also disseminated the role and challenges of paddy field irrigation globally in various international organizations and academic conferences and led the international discussions. These academic merits and international activities were highly appreciated.
