【内　容】

“Habitat and resources use by wildlife inside a production forest environment”
Jason HON (Graduate School of Global Environmental Studies, Kyoto University)

Brief introduction: This seminar shall introduce my research on wildlife in a logging concession area in the Bintulu division of Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo. The study focuses on the use of habitat and key resources, with focus on natural salt licks, by wildlife. What are the species occurring inside production forests, and why are these forests crucial for the conservation of wildlife? Camera trapping exercises have yielded interesting results, which I will be presenting at the seminar.

“Biodiversity from genetic to landscape scales”

Abstract: I will introduce ecological and genetic studies on herb and tree populations in Japan, on pollination mutualism between Araceae plants and Colocasiomyia flies in the Oriental Region, and on molecular phylogeny of malaria vector mosquitoes in Vietnam and Indonesia. I will also introduce my research plan for the next two years on comparison of beetle diversity related to land use in Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo.
