Title: “Environmental Governance in China”
Speaker: Dr. BAO Maohong (RIHN Visiting Researcher /
Department of History, Peking University)
Summary:
China's environment today is the result of historical interactions between humanity and the rest of nature. Contemporary environmental problems should therefore be examined in the context of this environmental history, and environmental governance should take account of the interaction of both internal and external forces. This presentation will analyze how contemporary environmental governance in China is influenced through the interaction of state (central and local), market, civil society and international dynamics or forces.
