Overview
The stable isotope ratio mass spectrometers are used for measurements of stable isotopic ratios of bioelements (H, C, N, O, and S) in environmental samples. It is applied to studies on feeding habit, eutrophication, marine pollution, ground pollution, etc.

Principle
In the continuous-flow measurement system, the elemental analyzer or the sample preparation system is connected to the mass spectrometer via the open sprit interface. In the elemental analyzer, the sample is processed with high-temperature conversion method and then the reaction gases are separated with isothermal gas chromatography. Finally, the gases are admitted to the IRMS via the open split interface.
In the dual-inlet measurement system, the sample gas and the reference gas are alternately introduced into the ion source of the mass spectrometer.

CAUTION
As a general rule, this analytical system is used for measurement of natural samples. If you want to measure a sample labeled with a stable isotope, please submit a letter explaining the reasons.
