LECTURE ABSTRACT

“Agricultural revolutions and their impact in the Mediterranean World”
This lecture will offer a long-term perspective on the devolpment of mixed farming strategies in the circum-Mediterranean lands, beginning with Broad Spectrum hunter-gatherers, moving through early farmers and on into innovations to the exploitation of the landscape associated with ancient and medieval civilisations. Archaeological approaches and historical sources will be combined to investigate the wider significance of progressive intensification of human impact in the region.
